The FISF has collaborated closely with the ICMR in response to the mucormycosis outbreak among COVID-19 patients, with the aim of providing educational support to professionals regarding the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. The Fungal Infection Study Forum (FISF) also provided guidance on antifungal treatment under situations of crisis where amphotericin B was not readily available. The members of the FISF were also engaged in the preparation of a Delphi consensus statement on the diagnosis of pulmonary mucormycosis associated with COVID-19, which was published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases. Additionally, they contributed to the formulation of clinical management recommendations for COVID-19 associated mucormycosis in low- and middle-income countries, as endorsed by ECMM/ISHAM.
