With the sponsorship of Gilead Pharmaceutical Company, FISF conducted two-day training workshops for students and junior consultants in ten different places across India. This course was designed to teach clinicians about the diagnosis, approach, and treatment of invasive fungal infections (IFI). Each course enrolled 40-60 individuals. The typical format of this training course includes a pre-course questionnaire for participants, two didactic presentations, and a case-based discussion on an IFI situation. Following lunch, participants were divided into four groups and assigned different cases of mold infections, dematiaceous fungi, endemic fungi, invasive candidiasis, and so on. The group will discuss the case and recommend diagnostic workups for differential diagnosis and treatment. One faculty member will facilitate discussion and guide the group. Leaders from all four groups will present this case to all participants. Participants and faculty will ask questions during presentations to increase their understanding of the given IFI, which will include some clinical pearls for IFI. The training course ended with post-test questions, and the participants were given the same MCQs for assessment.
